Extend Your Health - Ketyn Jepson and Kate

My name is Ketyn Jepson and I trained as a Reflexologist in 2005, a career change after having my children in North Yorkshire. Following my qualification I worked for Age UK Scarborough & District. Where I initially offered Reflexology sessions and support to carers of people living with Alzheimer’s and dementia. My role there grew quickly and I trained as an EXTEND Exercise instructor.  I have always loved dance and exercise classes so this was a natural fit for me. I found that I loved working with older people and those with reduced mobility.

In 2014 we relocated to the Bath area. I was thrilled to join Age UK Bath and North East Somerset to continue delivering EXTEND Exercise sessions. There has recently been a surge of interest in exercise sessions for over 60s which is a very encouraging sign that more and more people are embracing later life. I am very passionate about helping individuals to stay as fit, active and healthy as they can be for as long as possible which is why I have set up “Extend Your Health”.  Enabling me to deliver more of these sessions and also offer more Reflexology sessions to those wishing to have a more holistic approach to their health and wellbeing.

I continue to work closely with Age UK (B&NES) as well as the local Physiotherapy and Falls Prevention Teams, the West of England Rural Network, and the Parkinson’s Society (B&NES). Ensuring that as many older people as possible can access exercise sessions.

What’s next for me?

I firmly believe in self-development and I am excited to be part of the new EXTEND training team who will teach and inspire new teachers with our brand-new VTCT accredited courses in 2020 and beyond. I am also looking at ways to expand what I do by offering more varied activities and opportunities for my group members to experience fun in an inclusive environment.
